I think the problem here is the portrayal of Saddat as a pharaon by the Iranian movie and NOT who assassinated him. He could have been killed by a Turk for all I know. The lesson that the Iranian movie industry with the blessing of the theocratic mullahs should take is to mind their own business instead of showing of their self-congradulatory twisted righteousness.

It was mostly Egypt who suffered the most and sacrificed its youth for the stupid Arab cause or the Palestinian cause during the six days war. Saddat had a vision for the middle east that the ignorant waring tribal mentality Iranian and its cronies like Hamas and Hizbollah need to understand. Saddat regained the Sinai penisula with peace with Israel. I cannot imagine or forsee the millions of individual egyptions who could have died to reclaim the Sinai by declaring war again. In fact I may even go futher to claim that the Sinai would be still in Israeli hands with thriving tourist industry and busling cities all over.

It is sad to see that some ignorant people still believe in death at whatever cost instead of peace, development and growth. This is what Saddat had in mind and he paid a heavy price for that vision.

Thanks for the input Anonymous, I appreciate it - and sorry if my wording was misleading. I said he "decided to kill Sadat, and so he fired at him ". I did not say he was actually successful at what he planned to do.

So, to me, him and any other who tries to murder someone (including the guy who gave the fatwa) -whether successful or not at what they intend to do- is a murderer and does not deserve such respect. Imagine what it would be like if some muslim fundamentalist country had a street named osama bin laden? Murder is murder. Let's call it what it is. That's my point :)

sadat was assassinated by an Egyptian named Khalid Islambouli and the fatwa for his assassination was approved by the Egyptian clergy, Omar Abdel-Rahman

Iran had nothing to do with his assassination though it did honor Islambouli by naming a street after him in Tehran.
