I bought a shoe. A pretty expensive shoe. In November 09.
I took it with me to Egypt when I was visiting in December 09' and wore it every day for 3 weeks.
When I got home, I realized it was torn!!
I was very angry. It was the most expensive shoe i'd ever bought in my life.
The shoe was yellow, of course, from all the dust in Egypt. It was only a couple of months old, but still looked pretty worn out as anything does that gets used in Cairo.
Plan of action: I'll contact the manufacturer and complain. I sure as fuck am not buying any more Asics shoes!
Expectation: An apology? Don't know really. I guess I was expecting to be turned away and told it was "wear". Was pretty sure they wouldn't take back the shoe or refund my money since I'd worn it for two months already.
Their Response: They told me to take it to the store, and if the store refuses to take it, you'll have to mail it to us. The store said bring it in and we'll look at it.
Thoughts: Crap. The store surely wouldn't return the money. Even less chance than the manufacturer! Ughh, not liking the idea of paying a ton of money to ship a torn shoe.
Actual: The store looked at it and said they'd replace it!! They couldn't refund me the money, but they can give me store credit for it. And since they didn't have that exact same shoe, they had a newer version and I would have to pay the price difference (20 bucks plus tax). Super grateful, I accepted that offer! Now my most expensive shoe has become even more expensive, but at least I won't be stuck with a torn shoe!
Conclusions:
1- Don't take expensive shoes to Egypt.
2- Don't take WHITE shoes to Egypt.
3- God bless America!
